Thank you, John, for reminding us all of our past and our intimate connections to it. I knew the little girl on the blanket when she was in her 80's. We visited "Mamau" in the nursing home every weekend when we came home from college. I laugh, now, looking at the picture and statue, because Pvt. Lindermuth's great grandson, my husband, had the same mustache when I met him in 1970...long before we found the Gettysburg picture! In a world of texts, tweets and Facebook it is important to remember the lives and sacrifices that came before us.
ReplyDeletegood one John.
